Overview

These two reports summarize the activities of the Victim/Witness Assistance Program (V/WAP) for the third and fourth quarters (July through December) of 1977. The projects major responsibilities were:

1) notifications or case management through which the Project sought to reduce the number of unnecessary court appearances required of police and civilian witnesses;

2) services through which the Project assisted victims and witnesses with their participation in the court process; and

3) mediation, through which the Project sought to divert selected cases to a dispute center for resolution as an alternative to prosecution in Criminal Court.
