Robbery Case Enhancement and Felony Augmentation A Review of Program Organization and Operation

Overview

This 1983 Vera report summarizes the Felony Case Preparation Project (FCPP) and Felony Augmentation Program (FAP), two pilot projects conducted by the NYPD between 1979-1981. The FCPP required that felony arrests made in three Bronx districts be delivered to the precinct detective units for follow-up investigation by a detective, the resulting report being delivered to the District Attorney. The FAP focused on the arrest (in Manhattan) of individuals deemed to be career criminals, subjecting these to detective case-building efforts. A special unit, the Career Criminal Investigating Unit, was created for the purpose.
