Overview

For this report, model criminal codes containing sentencing provisions were reviewed in connection with research on fine penalties in criminal law. These codes, which serve as models for legislators who are drafting criminal laws and statutes, have indeed influenced lawmakers, as demonstrated by the number of states that have adopted into their statutes the actual language of provisions in the model codes.
