Family Court Disposition Study Executive Summary

Overview

This 1972 Vera report describes how New York City's Family Courts handle delinquency and status offense cases. It describes what the authors learned in the Family Court Disposition Study, and discusses:

1) the behavior with which the court was presented the delinquency and PINS sample cases;

2) the characteristics of the juvenile respondents, as documented in Probation and Family Court records;

3) the processing and dispositions reached in the sample cases; and

4) indications of the relationships among the sample juveniles' behavior and documented characteristics and the outcomes of their cases.
