Accused, their Charges, and Bail Decisions in Three South African Magistrates Courts
Overview
We are now measuring the impact of pre-trial services on bail decisions, witness and accused appearance rates, and the profile of the awaiting trial population. The South African Bureau of Justice Assistance has collected "baseline data" about bail decisions and accused appearance rates. This was the first-ever scientific survey of bail decisions in South Africa.
