Vera Institute of Justice

Sunwoo Oh is the policy and advocacy manager for Vera’s Redefining Public Safety initiative. Sunwoo leads efforts to modernize enforcement-centered policies, leveraging data, best practices, and sustainable funding to develop legislative and administrative solutions that refocus resources on social and safety needs across local, state, and federal levels.

Before joining Vera, Sunwoo led voting rights and anti-corruption-related advocacy at Stand Up America, helping advance key legislation at the federal and state levels. She has strong roots in the criminal legal reform field, having previously held roles at Columbia Justice Lab and the Brennan Center for Justice. At the Justice Lab, Sunwoo managed the Youth Justice Initiative’s federal policy and appropriation efforts; at the Brennan Center, she worked with federal and state lawmakers and law enforcement to advance policies to end mass incarceration and recidivism.

Sunwoo holds a BA from New York University and an MA in public policy from the London School of Economics.
