Sheena Liberator
Sheena Liberator was a senior program associate with Vera California, working to get Los Angeles County—home to the largest jail system in the country—to implement plans for decarceration and institute pretrial reform initiatives. She also helped develop strategies for California counties to adopt a transformative vision of community safety. Throughout her career, Sheena has been committed to ending cash bail and promoting healthy and sustainable communities of color.
Originally from New York, Sheena practiced as a criminal defense attorney throughout New York City and its surrounding counties for several years. She moved to Los Angeles in late 2019 and began working with a small criminal defense firm as a research attorney. In this role, Sheena developed advisory guides and tracked legislative issues affecting her clients and their communities.
Sheena holds a BA in political science from Tufts University and a JD from Suffolk University Law School.
