Shameeka Mattis

Shameeka Mattis, LMSW, is a native of Brooklyn, NY, and has worked with directly impacted people in the criminal justice system for nearly 15 years in Philadelphia and New York City. She earned her BA from Binghamton University and her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania. Shameeka is a social worker, writer, educator, motivational speaker, and trauma-responsiveness trainer. Shameeka joined Common Justice’s team in 2008 and served as Director of Programs until taking on leadership of the project’s replication in the Bronx in 2017. In 2014, Shameeka received the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)-NYC Emerging Leader Award.
