Vera Institute of Justice

Seleeke Flingai was a senior research associate with the Reshaping Prosecution program at the Vera Institute of Justice. At Vera, Seleeke conducted quantitative data analyses and other research to understand how prosecution and the larger justice system work in communities across the country, with an eye toward increasing transparency in prosecution, advancing racial equity, and ending mass incarceration.

Prior to joining Vera, Seleeke worked as a research analyst at the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), the regional planning agency of the Greater Boston region. At MAPC, he used quantitative and spatial data to investigate the various manifestations of racialized inequities in the Greater Boston region, with a focus on residential displacement and social vulnerability to climate hazards. He has also conducted data analyses for bail reform advocacy efforts in Baltimore and has extensive research experience in infectious disease and public health.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Seleeke earned a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, an MPA in Domestic Policy with a concentration in urban policy and planning from Princeton University, and an SB in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT.
