Vera Institute of Justice

Sebastian Solomon works as associate director for policy with Vera’s Greater Justice New York team, using his knowledge of the New York political and policy landscape to help shrink the number of people incarcerated in New York and shift funding from the criminal legal system to services that create true community safety.

Before joining Vera in 2022, Sebastian worked for two years at the New York State Senate, where he was assistant counsel to the Joint Senate Task Force on Opioids, Addiction, and Overdose Prevention. Before that, he worked for the Legal Action Center, eventually becoming director of New York State policy.

Sebastian holds a BA in English from Yale University and an MSc in the history of international relations from the London School of Economics and Politics.
