Pierina Hernandez Luperdi worked as a research analyst with Vera’s Advancing Universal Representation initiative to help establish a federal right to legal representation for all immigrants facing deportation. She conducted data analysis and maintained databases in support of local and state efforts to establish publicly funded deportation defense.

Before joining Vera, Pierina worked in research positions at the American Institutes for Research and the Brookings Institution, collecting quantitative and qualitative data on issues such as data literacy and nontraditional employment. As an interpreter at the Montgomery County State’s Attorney Office, she ensured that Spanish-speaking clients could effectively communicate with their advocates in preparation for trial.

Pierina holds a BA in economics and government and politics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
