Marilyn Sinkewicz

Marilyn joined Vera in 2017 as senior research associate in the Substance Use and Mental Health Program. Her work at Vera included investigating data sharing strategies across sectors and agencies to support people with behavioral health needs who come into contact with the justice system. Marilyn’s broad research interests concern the social and economic causes and consequences of mental health disparities.

Prior to joining Vera, Marilyn was on the faculty at the University of Michigan. Her public service work includes developing public mental health strategies as the director of Research and Evaluation for Children, Youth and Families at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and assessing employment equity initiatives as the director of Evaluation at the Fire Department of New York. Marilyn received a Ph.D. from Columbia University and completed post doctoral studies in the Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Scholars Program and the National Institutes of Mental Health Psychiatric Epidemiology Training Program. Currently she has an appointment at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research.
