Léon Digard
Léon Digard works as editorial director for research in Vera’s communications and external affairs department, overseeing the production and editing of research products from across the Institute and authoring reports and briefs. Léon joined Vera as a researcher in 2010. He acted as lead researcher on many projects nationwide and spearheaded Vera’s research into the use of solitary confinement in prisons and jails in multiple jurisdictions.
Léon has led many mixed-methods studies, including the Los Angeles Jail Overcrowding Reduction project and a study of the impact of video visitation in prisons in Washington State. Léon also conducted fieldwork in South Sudan with the International Program.
Léon holds a BS in psychology from the University of London and an MA and PhD in criminology from the University of Cambridge.
