Vera Institute of Justice

Khusbu Bhakta was the executive operations manager in Vera’s executive department. She helped develop and maintain infrastructure within the executive team for sharing information internally and for engaging staff at all levels. She played a key role in managing the board of trustees, partnering with the chief of staff and president on driving organization-wide endeavors like strategic planning, and strengthening Vera’s internal communications apparatus and structure. Khusbu also coordinated Vera’s Leadership Team and handled special projects.

Before joining Vera, Khusbu worked at Penguin Random House with the speakers bureau and provided support to numerous authors, including Bryan Stevenson and Ibram X. Kendi.

Outside of work, she volunteers with the Parole Preparation Project, an organization that works with incarcerated people serving indeterminate life sentences to prepare for their parole hearings.

Khusbu holds a BA in journalism and media studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and an MSNPA from Louisiana State University.
