he/him

Hamilton Brooks is an advocacy analyst with Vera’s advocacy and partnerships department, where he works with the Institute’s initiatives to implement advocacy goals, objectives, strategies, and work plans.

Before joining Vera in 2023, Hamilton was the strategic campaign director at Generation Vote (GenVote), a youth-led democracy organization. He led GenVote's structural and cultural overhaul, working with grassroots trainers and democracy experts nationwide. Hamilton’s efforts resulted in the election of three pro-democracy secretary of state candidates in 2022, and the establishment of New York University’s first on-campus early voting site. He started his advocacy career in 2015, marching 300 miles during the NAACP’s Journey for Justice.

In addition to his work at Vera, Hamilton serves on The Potomac School's Alumni Governing Council, which helps foster community among alumni, parents, and teachers. He is also an alum of The Institute for Responsible Citizenship, the premier leadership program for African-American men in higher education.
