Elle Gray Teshima

Elle Gray Teshima works as an editor in Vera’s communications and external affairs department to develop strategic publications from Vera’s initiatives and amplify the voices of people with lived experience in the criminal legal and immigration systems. Elle was instrumental in updating Vera’s style guide and specializes in editing personal narratives written by system-impacted authors.

Before joining Vera in 2020, Elle worked as a research and writing lab mentor and taught undergraduate courses on the intersections of race, class, gender, and legal system involvement. Elle also ran a small business providing content strategy and editorial support to writers in business, nonprofit, and scholarly spaces.

Elle holds a BA in psychology and criminal justice and an MS in criminal justice from Grand Valley State University.
