Claudine Constant
Claudine Constant is the director of Vera's Beyond Jails initiative. Claudine leads the initiative’s efforts, focused on three core strategies: direct statewide advocacy campaigns and coalition building to create lasting policy change; pilot and build evidence for decarceration policies and proposals; and build will for change in jurisdictions.
Before joining Vera in 2024, Claudine worked as the public policy and advocacy director at the ACLU of Connecticut for over three years. She has also worked in the food justice and urban agriculture fields, in addition to working with federally qualified health centers and addressing health equity issues. Claudine formerly served as a city council member for Hartford, Connecticut.
Outside of her work at Vera, Claudine loves to eat and cook, travel, paint, and spend time with loved ones.
Claudine holds a BS in public health from Southern Connecticut State University.
