Chris Choi
Chris Choi is the marketing director in Vera's communications and external affairs department. In his role, Chris develops and oversees digital fundraising, marketing, communications, and partnerships strategies. He previously served as Vera’s external affairs director and as digital engagement director, where he led a team of digital strategists, developing content and campaigns supporting Vera’s mission to drive change in the criminal legal system.
Before joining Vera, Chris was head of global digital strategy for 100 Resilient Cities, pioneered by The Rockefeller Foundation (100RC), overseeing digital communications, editorial planning, video and multimedia production, social media, visual design, and brand for 100RC, in addition to supporting cities around the world develop and implement of communications planning and public engagement strategies.
Previously, Chris managed the digital media practice at Blue State, the firm best known for its work on both of President Barack Obama’s election campaigns, supervising a team of media planners and strategists and overseeing the agency’s global media engagements for leading international nonprofits, political candidates and causes, advocacy organizations, and brands. Chris was director of digital marketing for the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee, served as senior advertising strategist for President Obama’s reelection campaign, and helped launch the communications agency Bully Pulpit Interactive.
Chris holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He resides in Brooklyn with his wife, two children, and many houseplants.
