Brittany Brown
Brittany Brown is a senior program associate with Vera’s Restoring Promise initiative. She provides technical assistance to correctional agencies, helping them create housing units that are rooted in human dignity. She also supports the initiative’s policy and advocacy work to ensure that the transformations made are sustainable.
Before joining Vera in 2021, Brittany spent nearly seven years with the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) providing programming, case management, and counseling services to incarcerated young adults. In her most recent position with SCDC, she was program coordinator for the Cadre of H.O.P.E. Restoring Promise community, where she collaborated with corrections staff and incarcerated residents to develop units that prioritize family engagement, mentorship, personal development, restorative justice practices, and reentry preparation.
Brittany holds a BA in mass communications from Claflin University, an MS in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University, and an MA in media studies from Pennsylvania State University.
