Bethany Costello
Bethany Costello is a research analyst with Vera's Advancing Universal Representation (UREP) initiative, working to ensure every person in immigration proceedings has access to full, zealous legal representation. In her role, Bethany supports senior staff with UREP’s various research projects.
Before joining Vera in 2023, Bethany worked at Olin College of Engineering, building data tools to assist public defenders in Massachusetts to challenge unconstitutional, racially motivated traffic stops. She also previously served as an intern at the Boston-based nonprofit Justice 4 Housing, where she researched legislative barriers to housing faced by formerly incarcerated individuals.
Bethany holds a BA in political science with a minor in computer science from Wellesley College.
