Martin Horn, former head of NYC jail and probation, discusses “Five Research Questions I Want Answered”

New York -- A video podcast of Martin Horn, former commissioner of New York City’s Department of Correction and Department of Probation, discussing “Five Research Questions I Want Answered” is now available on Vera’s web site, www.vera.org.

In this presentation, Horn, currently a distinguished lecturer at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, draws on his extensive experience running New York City’s jail and probation systems to highlight key areas in which more information and research could substantially improve the performance of courts, parole, prisons, and other justice-related institutions.

“Marty has been a leading justice practitioner in one of the most challenging environments in the nation,” said Michael Jacobson, Vera’s director. “No one is better positioned to identify the key holes in current knowledge which, if filled, could profoundly improve performance and public safety.”

The approximately 12-minute podcast is the latest installment of Vera’s Neil A. Weiner Research Guest Speaker Series, in which leading academics discuss for a general audience their cutting-edge justice-related research.
