Eric Holder, speaking as a father
Dec 18, 2009
Attorney General Eric Holder, speaking at a Fatherhood Town Hall hosted by Morehouse College, emphasized the importance of family connections in helping people transition home from prison.
“Family connections improve public safety, and responsible and engaged parenting improves public safety," he said. "It’s time we started to think about this issue in that context.”
Drawing on his own role as a father, Mr. Holder talked about the failure of our policies to support family relationships and the potential for better reentry outcomes as more criminal justice agencies support family ties and other key relationships of people in prison and jail.
