Join us for a special screening of “Clemency,” with a Q&A to follow with filmmaker Chinonye Chukwu. The film offers a devastating character study of a warden wrestling with her role in a string of executions.
From the “Clemency” website:
"Years of carrying out death row executions have taken a toll on prison warden Bernadine Williams (Alfre Woodard). As she prepares to execute another inmate, Bernadine must confront the psychological and emotional demons her job creates, ultimately connecting her to the man she is sanctioned to kill."
The Atlantic journalist Vann R. Newkirk II will interview Chukwu after the film, and representatives of the honorary hosts will offer introductory remarks prior to the screening.
